Formed in 2023 and registered as a Scottish charity in June 2025 (SC054307), we use psychoanalytic ways of working and thinking to improve mental health across the Highlands.
The Highlands Psychoanalytic Collective (HPC) began in 2023 as an informal gathering of mental health professionals who wanted to share a space for thinking, learning, and developing meaningful clinical services for the Highlands. Our early work focused on supporting frontline workers and practitioners facing emotional demands in their daily roles, and on cultivating a community where ideas could be explored collaboratively.
Offer clinical psychoanalysis and applied psychoanalytic work for children, young people, and adults.
Champion psychoanalytic ideas throughout the Highlands — attentive to the region’s culture, history and geography.
Develop events, training, seminars and community spaces for sharing psychoanalytic thought and practice.
Community-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy services are a core part of our work. Our aim is to develop accessible, thoughtful clinical provision tailored to the unique needs of the Highlands.
In 2026, we will open the Youth Psychotherapy Hub in Nairn, in partnership with Nairn Healthcare Partners. The hub will provide young people with access to developmentally sensitive, psychoanalytic-informed therapy.
Further information about referrals and access will be added as these services develop.
If you’d like to enquire or learn more about our developing clinical work, we’d be happy to hear from you.
We’re always delighted to hear from people who would like to volunteer their time, energy, or expertise. Volunteering with HPC is a chance to be part of a thoughtful, creative community. We’re especially looking for skills in finance and fundraising, but welcome interest from anyone drawn to our work.
We’re a small charity with a big heart and a curious mind. If you value what we’re building, please consider making a donation. We want services to remain free at the point of access — every contribution makes a real difference.

We’re recruiting psychotherapists, psychoanalysts and therapeutic specialists to work with children, young people and families across the Highlands.
A collective of clinicians, researchers, and practitioners committed to thoughtful psychoanalytic work in the Highlands.
